I'm definitely going to try the tortilla soup. I know I've made a version of it at some point over the years. We're Mexican inspired food fans here 🙌🏻 plus really I just love an excuse to use obnoxious amounts of cheese and sour cream, and top with jalapenos and hot sauce!

Yes, definitely try the chicken tortilla soup - I make it almost weekly in the winter. Let me know how it goes!

They all sound delish. I used to live Aliso Viejo, but live in Washington state now, so soup is really important to me now!

I love Washington - have you read “Onions in the Stew” by Betty MacDonald? It’s set on Vashon Island and is a really fun read.

I haven't read it, but added it to my list. In fact the whole series looks good. Especially for my personal studies of food writing. I applied to a residency at Vashon Island this year-didn't get it but will try again next year. Thanks for the recommendation!

We’re also Californians and huge soup fans, no matter the weather! All of the ones you mention look delicious. Tortilla soup is the one I make most often because it’s my husband’s favorite, but also lentil and minestrone. My tortilla soup also has corn, chicken and a tomato base, but I add black beans. I vary it a little each time, but here’s a link to a recipe I wrote some years ago: https://ruthtalksfood.substack.com/p/recipe-tortilla-soup-13-09-27?r=159j4&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&utm_source=copy
